Automotive Power Circuit Probe Tester 6–24V DC, Fuse & Voltage Tester with LED Short Circuit Finder

I generally don't have problems with my vehicles but every now and then somethin pops up that really is super elusive. The backup camera on my wife's Honda stopped working, and I could not find the problem. Enter the Ansbell power circuit probe tester. I popped this great tool out of the box and within 15 minutes, the break was traced, isolated and repaired. The quality of this tool and accessories is fantastic. I wish that I had this years ago, it would have made my life so much easier, especially when I was trying to track down some wiring problems on my golf cart. The price is surprisingly low. I use this daily on car audio and automotive work over all quality is durable. I love how it tells you the volts and is not like your typical test light that just lights up. Easy probe a wire. The size is perfect to handle and store in the tool box.

I got this to help test wiring issues on an old Chevy I’m restoring, and it’s been super handy. It works on 6V, 12V, and 24V systems, so I can use it across different things without switching tools. I like to do my own car repairs whenever I can - it's fun, saves money, and is satisfying. My cars are generally newer, so the repairs these days have been few and far between. But my daughter bought a 20 year old Ford pickup truck and getting this street legal and back on the road has become a family project. I have a great high-end multimeter that I use for a variety of other projects around the house (and sometimes at work), but I wanted a basic separate unit that's sufficient to handle work on my cars -- and my daughter's truck. This automotive "multi-function drive tester" fits the bill perfectly.

It's solidly built and feels like it should hold up for years. The included wires are quite long, and long enough in fact so that I can have the clips on the battery terminals up front and bring the tester around to the back of the car (or truck) to test the circuit by the tail lights. Nice! In this respect, it's outdoing my other "professional" multimeter, as I simply don't have probes for that one with wires anywhere near that long.

The product is perfect for the purpose. While it doesn't have a lot of other functions like my big multimeter does (e.g., capacitance), it has what you need for work on a car or truck. 90% of the time you'll be checking either polarity or continuity, and that's exactly what this tester is designed to do. It's great that you can use it to test grounding polarity, and the warning circuitry helps protect you if there's a surprise voltage beyond 36V - although frankly you should never see that in a car or truck. The vast majority of the time you'll be dealing with 12V.

The battery terminal clamps are well-sprung -- easy to open, and hold on effectively to the battery terminals. The digital display is nice (and easier to read than on my fancy multimeter!). The skinny pointy probe is great for reaching into lightbulb sockets, switches that are still installed in place, and your fuse panel.

It took me a bit of time to read and re-read the included manual. While it's thorough and nicely printed, I suggest that some help with improving the translation to English would make it even better. But frankly with a bit of time and patience, it's not hard at all to figure out the included instructions. But I can imagine this being a bit of a challenge for some folks. Improving on this translation would push my rating up to 5.

Overall - I really like this product. It will wind up with a long-term "home" in my car trunk (or my daughter's truck glove box!), as that's where we'll be using it.

Here is what I'll say, it works. What I really needed, was 110 Volts for household use. However, because I either misread the ad or the wording was unclear I ended up with this product. But it's not a complete loss since I also work on cars, so I had to go out and test it right away. I tested it against the current model that I'm using and to be honest I'm quite impressed. I suppose that even an accidental purchase can yield good results. Certainly the manufacturer here thought of about everything because it has some pretty cool functions. To be honest I think I'm going to use this meter as my main meter for my automotive applications. I find the value and sensitivity of the meter to be spot on. I really couldn't find anything wrong with it in fact everything including compact nature of it is spot on as well. I guess that just goes to show that for every door that closes another one opens, and being a glass is half full guy rather than half empty, actually worked out here. I have to give credit where credit is due a great job on manufacturing it is definitely durable and appears to be quite accurate. An excellent Buy across the board. I recommend.

The tool itself looks and works great, it performs as advertised, and is very handy for testing voltage, continuity, fuses, and more. I’ve used it on 12V systems, and it helped me track down electrical issues quickly.

However, I’m giving it 4 stars because I’m pretty disappointed with the quality of the clamps and cable. They look and feel cheap compared to the rest of the unit, which is otherwise solid. With better build quality on those components, this would easily be a 5-star product. Overall, still a useful and functional tester for the price.

Needed this to troubleshoot a bunch of older equipment i have (bobcat, excavator, some older atv's from the 80's, older outboards, all with none of the computer junk) all pretty simple machines. Every time i watch a video i see them using these. I tested some gauges tonight on my bobcat and a couple circuits and found this easy to use. The battery clamps have a strong grip, construction seems sufficiently robust. If you find yourself needing to troubleshoot basic 12v-24v circuits you need these, there's a lot of good video's online that explain how to troubleshoot with these i found helpful.

Example to test my bobcat temp gauge, i connect the probes + and - to correct battery terminals. Probing the gauge terminals tells me which is receiving 12v and which is negative (polarity). Grounding out the gauge sensor terminal by using the negative button on the probe made the gauge peg to hot showing the gauge was at least working.

I bought this fuse tester to make checking my car fuses easier, and it's been a game-changer. It's super easy to use, It's small enough to keep in the glove box, so I'm always ready to check a fuse if needed. Highly recommend it to any car owner!
